Why Men Love Table Football

Football Tables

Table football, sometimes known by the name “Foosball”, is still one of the most popular boy’s toys that money can buy. You would be forgiven for thinking that table football might have long been consigned to the dustbin relics of the past, along with the likes of other big boys games like Subbuteo, tiddlywinks and shove ha’penny, but in actual fact table football is probably more popular today, with far more tables being sold every year than ever before!

In an era when the majority of us seem to seek out entertainment in the form of electrical gadgets such as iPods, video game consoles and home theatre systems this might seem surprising but there are some good reasons why boys still love their foosball.

It’s An Excuse To Socialize

Obviously. Guys just love going to the local arcade and social clubs, whether it’s purely to chill out, to socialise with friends or just to get away from the other half for a few hours, yet it can be quite difficult to get out of the house with no good reason. With foosball games being played in arcades and clubs across the country, why not make the most of it and use the opportunity to get away? Lots of guys do just that.

They’re Great Fun

And what other possible reason could you want for wasting hours and hours on such a childish endeavour? After all, most men are still just big kids at heart, and while they may have given up their action man figures they still need something to play with. Table football provides hours of fun to satisfy a man’s lust for game play, simply thrashing away like a madman in desperation, trying to squeeze that ball past your opponent’s goalkeeper before he does the same to you!

It’s to be Taken Seriously

Boys like their competition, and Foosball is not just a game. It’s much more important than that, with generations of hormonal, raging teenage boys and adolescent males sweating blood, tears and spit over it. Foosball is a highly organised game in the UK today, not limited to just clubs and the bedrooms of teenage boys. There are a number of national organisations hosting annual official competitions, including cups and leagues and there’s even a Foosball World Cup.

Men Need Rules

And with foosball, they certainly get them. Men like to have rules in their games, as it adds an element of realism and professionalism to what’s happening. They also love to argue the toss and claim people are cheating! The rules of foosball are highly evolved, with no spinning allowed, no moving of the table, no cheeky attempts to distract your opponents… The list goes on and on!
