The cute and adorable Kirby makes a comeback to the video game console with Kirby’s latest appearance exclusively for the Nintendo Wii console in the story based platform game: Kirby’s Epic Yarn – Due for release this February 2011 (25/02/2011).
Kirby’s Epic Yarn Review
Nearly a decade since Kirby’s last appearance, Kirby’s Epic Yarn for the Nintendo Wii takes you on an adventure through Patch Land – a visually rich and colourful world that is stitched together with fabric and yarn. Suited for all ages, Kirby’s Epic Yarn is an easy to play side scrolling platform game that will appeal to young and older gamers alike – help Kirby, who has been transformed into a string of wool, to overcome his opponents as you jump over obstacles or transform into new forms including a dolphin, steam train, a UFO and even a giant robot. Kirby will engage in battles using his yarn to whip, thrash and disarm enemies, keeping true to the textile theme – whether you latch on to zips or swing on buttons, Kirby can explore the fabric world to reveal secret areas and hidden items.
If Kirby is hit by an enemy or you fall into a trap, Kirby will lose some beads (which are Game Currency – similar to how Sonic would lose rings), but the difference with Kirby’s Epic Yarn is that even when you run out of beads, you don’t die – you may unravel but you get to continue playing, making the game easy to play through – with the emphasis and focus of the game on the visual journey and adventure through Patch Land as you discover new delights and surprises of creativity in the endearing world of fabric.
Kirby’s Epic Yarn Wii Game Description
Go behind the seams with Kirby™ in his latest adventure!
Kirby’s first console platform game since the Nintendo 64™ days introduces an amazing new look based on animated yarn and a world of cloth and textiles. The creative approach is woven directly into the game play and allows the ever-morphing Kirby to take on a variety of new forms. A simultaneous two player mode will have players of all skill levels enjoying this one-of-a-kind experience.
• Cooperative play lets two friends have fun together
The look of the world is stunning, but it’s also interactive. Pulling on stray threads might reveal hidden areas. When Kirby literally goes behind the scenes, the virtual fabric warps and bends to show his location.
Thanks to his versatile yarn composition, Kirby can take on a variety of forms both in his common actions and when he transforms into powerful vehicles. When Kirby dashes, he zips around as a car. In water, he turns into a submarine. At times he can even transform into a massive robotic tank, a UFO and other vehicles.
Two players can play through the entire game together.
Beads and collectible items are scattered throughout the environments for players to find.

Mickey Mouse is the star of Disney’s new action packed platform game Epic Mickey for the Nintendo Wii console, on a journey through Wasteland – an alternate reality world consisting of Disney’s forgotten creative art efforts.
Epic Mickey was recently released in the UK (25/11/2010) and contains some role-playing game elements in the mostly open ended platform game which permits players to devise their own solutions for passing through and completing levels. Epic Mickey is built upon a morality system similar to that featured in the game Spider-Man: Web of Shadows, whereby the gameplay environment changes depending upon the specific actions of the player, for example with different power ups, side quests and alliances being made available based on the different choices made by the gamer.
Mickey Mouse wields the power to change his world environment using the magic paint brush which works in a Paint Thinner mode to erase world objects and a Paint mode to draw in objects – helping the player to eliminate obstacles using the paint thinner for example, or befriending enemies by revitalizing them with the strokes of paint and likewise destroying them if afflicted with the paint thinner.
Mickey travels through different sections of Wasteland, by traversing 2D side-scrolling levels based on his classic cartoon shorts including clips such as Steamboat Willie and Clock Cleaners.
Mickey can also avoid engaging in boss battles if particular actions are taken throughout the game, enabling a dynamism and open end feel to the game.

Disney Epic Mickey is an action-adventure platform game for the Wii console that sends Mickey Mouse on an epic journey of creativity and discovery. As Mickey, the player is propelled into Wasteland, an alternate world made up of Disney’s forgotten creative efforts, and is given the power to wield paint and paint thinner to dynamically change the world while determining Mickey’s path to becoming an epic hero. Through the use of this unique paint and paint thinner, the key components of animation and Mickey’s tools for impacting his world, players will have the ability to shape how the story unfolds as they discover the concept of “Playstyle Matters” – an innovative style of gameplay created by Disney Interactive Studios’ Junction Point, led by industry luminary Warren Spector, where players creatively tackle different challenges in the world to explore all the possibilities and storylines – but with consequences for their chosen actions.
The 16th instalment of the popular Legend of Zelda series is in development for an early 2011 release, with a revamp to make greater use of the Wii MotionPlus controller peripheral for sword fighting in gameplay, providing for a greater one-to-one control with the Wii remote and the in-game sword.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Gameplay Images & Screenshots
The Legend of Zelda™: Skyward Sword marks a turning point for The Legend of Zelda franchise. The introduction of full motion control enabled by the Wii MotionPlus™ accessory synchronizes player movements with Link’s actions while offering the most intuitive play control of any game in The Legend of Zelda franchise to date.
Thanks to the required Wii MotionPlus accessory, every movement of Link’s sword matches the player’s motion with exact precision. If players motion left to right, Link™ swings from left to right. The precision play control is applied to enemies as well, as players must contemplate strategy when battling opponents that actively try to defend against attacks.
Wii MotionPlus puts an arsenal of items at the player’s disposal. It offers a multitude of actions with just simple, intuitive motions. Players will try their hand at firing a bow, tossing bombs and using a whip to battle enemies and solve puzzles.
The game will also introduce a distinct new graphical style perfectly suited to the franchise’s fantastical universe, like a painting come to life.
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will offer a multitude of new game-play mechanics, giving it a refreshingly different feel from all of the past titles in the series.
